If the installation cost is $100 per mile along the road and $140 per mile off the road, express the total cost C of installation as a function of the distance x (in miles) from the connection box to the point where the cable installation turns off the road. C(x)= Compute the cost if x = 1 mile(s). $___________ Compute the cost if x=3 mile(s). $___________
here ya go~
and then i just plug in 1 & 3 in to x to get my 2 costs?
oh i didnt see that part >.< yes thats what you should do :)
ok cool! thanks!
ok it was incorrect so just to clarify : 140x^2-1300x+4600?
my handwritting is sloppy, my bad >.< the last number is 4660
ohh oh my bad. ok
yeah, that didnt work either. lol
hmm...maybe i went too fast, let me look at it one more time.
wow i made a really bad mistake lol. the hypotenuse of that right triangle should be: \[\sqrt{x^{2}-10x+29}\] i totally left out the square root >.< now i gotta recalculate stuff....
now the formula is going to look ugly, its going to be: \[140\sqrt{x^{2}-10x+29}+100x\]
haha oh man. is the 100x under the sqrt or no?
nope, its outside.
