What's the equation for the Mandelbrot?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The fractal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Err, set I guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wikipedia says z_n+1 = (z_n)^2 + c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, so what do I plug in there to get a Mandelbrot?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You plug in any complex number, and then plug in the resulting number, etc. If you get a bounded sequence, then it's part of the set. If not, you throw that number (and by extension, the rest of the set) out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[z_{new} = z_{old}^2 + c\] where c is the complex value started on
