A car dealership interviewed every driver who came onto their lot on Tuesday. This produced the following results: there were 61 people who owned trucks and 115 people who owned cars. If 14 people owned both a truck and a car and 8 people owned neither, how many people were interviewed?
8 = (TOTAL) - 61 - 115 + 14, solve for the total.
14 people owned both cars and trucks and 61 owned trucks, so 61 - 14= 47 only owned trucks. similarly 115-14 = 101 only owned cars. and 8 walked. so we have a total of 14 + 47 + 101 + 8
