i need help with graphing parent functions ! anybody?like y= l x +5 l

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Parent functions are the most algebraically basic shape of that particular relationship between variables. For example y = |x| is the V graph parent function of y = |x + 5|. Parents functions can be moved up/down/left/right just to name a few by placing numbers inside or outside the absolute values bars. Your example takes a regular y = |x| graph and moves it to the left 5 units. There are very many types of parent graphs.

y = |x + 5| is a "V" that sits on the x axis on the - 5.
