substitution method 7x+6y=38 -2x+y=19

Rearrange the second equation to get the y alone. I would add 2x to both sides of that equation. Now take the (2x + 19) and yes also the parenthesis and substitute it in behind the 6. Solve the equation for x and then substitute that into the 2nd equation to find the y.
