y=-4|x-3|+4 I understand how to graph every aspect of this except how does the -4 at the beginning play into the graph?

It reflects the graph over the x axis and gives it a steeper slope thereby making the v graph closer together. If you have a graphing calculator, plug in your equation with and without the -4 and see what happens.
