Grab a dictionary, find new words and practice using them. Pay attention to yourself when you talk. Ask yourself questions about your own sentence structure. Do I use the right tense? Am I using slang? Am I using too many contractions. Practice, practice, practice.

Try buying a vocabulary book and then depending on your learning style, customize a study program. For instance, if you are a visual learner, then you can write down the words on flashcards and then test your self. Also, try putting a word in a place you visit a lot, each time you go to it, read the word. I did this with a Bible verse and it was fun. God bless

Check out: "Word Power Made Easy" by Norman Lewis. He has an excellent approach to help not only your vocabulary, but also your pronunciation.

Try a thesaurus and dictionary. Also read different types of litereture. Practive your words out loud, by reading things out loud to people to build your confidence and listen to yourself.

For a grammar and vocabulary exercise, try taking verbs and write sentences with the verbs in past, present, and future tenses. For example: 'type' I am typing on my laptop. Earlier today I typed a poem. Tomorrow I will type a research paper.

Find words that fascinate you. Like for example, I like words like "nostalgic", or "petricor" . Use words like these in your everyday speech, even if it is hard to do so in the beginning.
