Grab a dictionary, find new words and practice using them. Pay attention to yourself when you talk. Ask yourself questions about your own sentence structure. Do I use the right tense? Am I using slang? Am I using too many contractions. Practice, practice, practice.

Try buying a vocabulary book and then depending on your learning style, customize a study program. For instance, if you are a visual learner, then you can write down the words on flashcards and then test your self. Try a thesaurus and dictionary. Also read different types of litereture. Practive your words out loud, by reading things out loud to people to build your confidence and listen to yourself.

For a grammar and vocabulary exercise, try taking verbs and write sentences with the verbs in past, present, and future tenses. For example: 'type' I am typing on my laptop. Earlier today I typed a poem. Tomorrow I will type a research paper.
