Let the candy bars be the variable b and the cookies c. If you add the number of candy bars with the number of cookies then you have 20 in all, that is. b + c = 20 Now we have to do a cost equation. The cost of b number of candy bars is $3b and the cost for the number of cookies is $5c. When you add those together you should get $76. Here's the equation: 3b + 5c = 76 Now use either substitution or elimination to solve it!
