Yes - mostly on surface of solids
Sound waves as defined only travel longitudinal thru a gas medium, think of pressure waves, because a shear cannot be supported. Be careful with the answer above because geologist use P-Waves as transverse and longitudinal. The correct answer will depend on the level of physics being studied. I know that you think this is vague but remember when in high school chemistry they teach noble gases do not react? This is wrong because you can make Xenon hexafluoride which violates the previous rule.
