Associative property of addition? 3k + ( 2k + 5 )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3k + 2k) + 5 Im pretty sure associative means it doesn't matter which way round the brackets go.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about ( 1.3 + 8.1 ) + 6.6 ? it has no varible ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doesn't matter. Associativity means that the order in which you add the terms together is irrelevant. so if you add the 1.3 to the 8.1 first, then add the 6.6, it will give the same answer as adding the 8.1 to the 6.6, then adding the 1.3, ie 1.3 + (8.1 + 6.6)

ok so ( 11x + 10y) + 4 would be ( 10y + 4) + 11?????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay ! (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
