The speed of a transverse wave on a string is 170 m/s when the string tension is 120 N. To raise the wave to 180 m/s, tension must be changed to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it, i forgot about v = sqrt(F_T/mu)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so plug it in...\[F _{T} = v^{2} \mu\]and get mu from the original data\[\mu = 120N/(170 m/s)^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep i got it already, thanks.
