Denise has 1 hour to spend training for an upcoming race. She completes her training by running full speed the distance of the race and walking back the same distance to cool down. If she runs at a speed of 8 mph and walks back at a speed of 2 mph, how long should she plan to spend walking back?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

use the formula: speed = distance/time.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

time = distance/speed

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

first find the distance for running

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

1 * 8 8 miles.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

now, time = dist/speed = 8/2 = 4hrs.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

here u go! :)
