90/x=3/4 what is x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=120

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=120

OpenStudy (angela210793):

90/x=3/4 cross multiply 90*4=3x x=360/3=120

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply both sides by 4x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't use cross multiplication. It's childish in my opinion. Multiply the equation with denominators instead.

OpenStudy (angela210793):

@Zuige u think ur way is easier ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's the exact same thing, just doesn't confuse people as much.

OpenStudy (angela210793):

I know it's the same but id she has a similar kind if problem it would be eaier 4 her to remember tht all she has to do is cross multiply than ''Multiply both sides by 4x.'' which u didn't explain why by 4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ultimately it's a matter of opinion. I've always found cross muliplication to be unnecessary.
