Can somebody explain how my online math course got from (x2 - y2) / (2x2 + 2xy + x + y) times (2x2 - 5x - 3) /(x2 + 3x) to (x-y)(x-3)/[x(x+3)]?

im guessing x2 means x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first term. top : (x^2-y^2)= (x+y)(x-y) bottom: (2x+1)(x+y) 2nd term top: (2x+1)(x-3) bottom: x(x+3) so all together its (x+y)(x-y) (2x+1)(x-3) ---------- * ---------- (2x+1)(x+y) x(x+3) cancel what cancels and u should get ur answer

I typed it it wrong I think....I did not do the exponent thing where it's needed..gotta repost it...
