make x the subject in y=e^x

\[x=\ln(y)\]

"make --- the subject of..." really rubs me the wrong way. what is the matter with "solve for x" for example?

that is ok, say it however you like. but but ask him or her to say "solve for x mate, and have a fosters" and i would be happier
