Opposite word of "Fiasco"?
fiasco usually means a complete failure so on opposite would be success
yeah I know about success, but i'm trying to find another opposite of this word, which really look like the opposite of fiasco
do you get what i mean? i mean that success is more likely to be the opposite of failure, i'm finding a word that looks like the opposite of fiasco, are you getting me?
breakthrough,revolutionary success
yeah that's more good. Thanks mridul1
you welcome :)
debacle..
Debacle is a synonym... btw ;P Fiasco comes from the Italian word for flask/bottle and it's use in the Italian phrase "to make a bottle" meaning to fail because of unknown origin. (I don't know, ask the Italians ;) More precisely, it means to fail with a result of disgrace or public contempt. So a better opposite might be TRIUMPH, which can mean an exultation (public praising) due to victory. Victory however, in essence, applies to conflict which isn't needed for a fiasco. Also, TRIUMPH does not need to be (and most often isn't) of unknown origin. So MIRACLE would fit that sense of unknown origin, and applicability to anything. But, miracle does not need to cause public praise - so take your pick. Your true opposite should be something to do with good LUCK, but an event arising out of that luck which ends with public praise.
well i'm going to choose from either breakthrough or triumph
thanks everyone
