What does the blue small circle on the down-right corner of your profile picture represents? I guess there is also a number written inside it in white, which is just so small that no one can read? What is that circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

expert level in the particular group......... As you get more medals and expert points in a particular group the number inside the small blue circle will increase. It is the same number which can be seen in the rectangle in the top tab. next to your user name.

OpenStudy (darthsid):

Yeah, hakkunamatata explained it well. You have an expertise level in each group, and an overall openstudy expertise level as well. You get expertise points (XP) from various activities like asking, answering, getting fans, getting medals and achievements, and after reaching a certain amount of XP you get a new level. Check out the bar next to your profile name on the top right. We realize that some users are having difficulty in reading the numbers, and we are working on a slightly longer solution with a few new features for it.
