how can you get a square root in excel??? if you want a function with it

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

You can probably do =SQRT(<whatever>)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope doesnt work i tried it with and without the brackets :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It does for me. Are you typing the equal sign? If I type the following line: =sqrt(49) When I hit enter, it displays a 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope doesnt work i pasted it in :S

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait it might be because my excel is in dutch :S would that affect it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can always bypass language and just type: =(cell reference)^(0.5) Raising to the 1/2 is the same as a square root.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or if you just want it for any number: =49^0.5 Hit enter and it should display a 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yea, thanks it works now :) thanks smarty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're very welcome.
