1/5x = 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cross multiplying: 250x = 1 x = 1/250 or 0.004

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X=250

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To get rid of the fraction times both sides by the denominator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true so 5 x * 1/5x = 50 * 5x so 1 = 250x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Depends actually it occurs to me that it could either be 1/(5x)=250x or (1/5)x=250

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the problem here is the question is not clear it can be taken as '1 divided by 5x' or 'one third of x' if it is the former then the answer is 1/250 if the latter the answer is 250
