Why called social science?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's the application of the scientific method or at least scientific and measurable observation to how human beings interact on both large and small scales. John Locke attested that something "social" was something "pertaining to society as a natural condition of human life" Accepting that society and social interaction is part of the natural world, social sciences seek to approach society in a scientific way, with the use of the scientific method.
