\[-5x^3+9x^2-5x-2\] replace x by -1 and use parentheses to get \[-5(-1)^3+9(-1)^2-5(-1)-2\]

i get \[5+9+5-2=17\]

yes the @ is a typo it's supposed to be -5x^3+9x^2-5x-2
