GET OUT -___-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the length of a rectangle exceeds its width by 12 inches and the area is 85 square inches what is the length and width ? i got 73 and 12 is that correct ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it is not right. let the width be x, then the length is (x+12).. now the area is the product of the two..so you get (x)(x+12)=85...solve for x. you should find that x=5. therefore width =5 inches and length = 17inches
