can i get gud topic to do a reseach based project in microbiology

Here are 3 ideas that come to mind for a microbiology project.... 1. Quorum sensing in bacteria: This is cool, bacteria use small moleciules called quorums to "sense" how dense their population is. This is increasingly associated with virulence genes, which are turned on when the density gets high enough for the bugs to draw attention from the immune system. 2. Nitrogen fixation: Nitrobacter and others Bacteria are responsible for the majority of nitrogen fixation from the atmosphere, allowing plants and animals to use the organic nitrogen they gather. Basically, we owe our existence to these humble bugs. 3. Rise of antibiotic resistence: This one is always both interesting and very relevant to our daily lives. Everyone hears about this, but there are alot of misconceptions and misunderstandings about resistance. Educate yourself and others by doing a project on it. A good place to start is always the famous penicillin. Bacteria took only a decade or so to evolve penicillinase, which cuts the beta lactam ring in penicillin and renders it harmless. You may recall that penicillin is one of the well known "trojan horse" drugs that fool bugs into using it when synthesizing their peptydoglycan cell walls. Anyways, i digress. This is a great subject and very broad, you might have to pick something to focus on!
