@Kulgan u hv made a small mistake..... when u shift - 10 to the other side it will become + 10 !!!! @kristlbaby i have already given the correct solution to u....... here is it again.... the simpler method is as follows:..... 3x-5/2=-1/4 5 -1 3x - ------ = ------ 2 4 Here 4 is multiple of 2, so multiply both sides by 4 (means multiply all terms by 4) 5 -1 4(3x) - 4*----- = 4*----- 2 4 u get 12x - 10 = -1 (you hv got rid of both denominators and no need to find LCD !!!!) 12x = -1 + 10 x = 9/12 x = 3/4
