if the world did not have oxygen, would life have evolved differently? Or not at all?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no acctually speakin water was present before oxygen this is a fact. due to uv radiations from sun water spilt to give o2. but before that life had started taking place in form of small microorganisms. in later years that simple form converted into complex thus using o2 for its need its just a evolution of the life.

My answer to this question would be "quite probably", we do know that not all life-forms require oxygen to sustain themselves.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea!mayb!it would hav lead to the evolution of totally diff species! u knw plants wer the first in the earth!oxygen was said to b highly inflammable!

You may be interested in looking up a group of microorganisms called anaerobes. These organisms do not need oxygen to metabolize and some even find it toxic!
