What is the difference between domain and range? Describe a real life situation that could be modeled by a function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Domain is an input and range is the output. For example say you make $8 an hour. Each hour you work will increase the range. y=8x everytime x(domain) increases y(range) will also increase.

Domain is the x values, and range applies to y values. For your second question, you're going to have to be more specific on the branch of math you're looking for. Calculus for example has many applications in physics, differential equations can be used to model newtons law of cooling or current in circuits. Algebra has many equation like that d=rt for example
