I'm trying to sketch y=f(x-2)+3 and y=f(x+1)-4 for f(x)=e^x.... then isn't it supposed to be y=(e-2)^x+3 and y=(e+1)^x-4??? but after I sketched these two graphs in my calculator it wasn't the same as the answers. Also, what will f(x)=1/x be for those two equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x-2)+3 = e^{x-2} + 3 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you replace x with (x-2) , similiarly for the other one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the +3 shifts the graph up 3units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the e^(x-2) , is e^x delayed by 2units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you take e^x , move it right 2units and up 3units
