is anyone good with probbability ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your ques

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i dunno, is that anything like probability? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol :) well i would love to get help on a question and i would like to know how you solved it . so you mind ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (amistre64):

type it up .... lets see what we got to work with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ask question

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

amistre rocks at probability.. i suck at those..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a community garden group is giving boxes of plants to local gardens . The people who assembled the boxes randomley picked items from 7 kind of veggie plants; 5 kind with broccolli of trees ,4 types of flowers and 4 types of herbs . find the probability that he will pick a box with brocolli plant , a birch tree a sunflower and a tarragon herb plant ,.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

& explain please and thank you :) i would love to understand this . this is my weakness.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

7 kind of veggie plants; 5 kind with broccolli of trees , <-- is this a typo? 4 types of flowers and 4 types of herbs . find the probability that he will pick a box with a brocolli plant , a birch tree a sunflower and a tarragon herb plant ,.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 kinds of vegetable plants , 5 kinds of trees , 4 types of flowers & 4 types of herbs <3 sorry :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a total of 7+5+4+4 plant 20 plants you need one from each group 7/20 + 5/19 + 4/18 + 4/17 times the permutation how many different combinations you can make

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt there an easier way ; as mulitplication because i know the otehr types of probability wuestion you just mulitply ; you dont do the same here ? o.O

OpenStudy (amistre64):

7 kind of veggie plants; 5 kinds of trees 4 types of flowers and 4 types of herbs . ----------------------- 20 types of plant all together. find the probability that he will pick a box with a brocolli plant , we have 7 out of 20 a birch tree 5 out of 20 a sunflower and 4 out of 20 a tarragon herb plant ,. 4 out of 20 th88 are we assuming that there are only 20 plants in the population?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea 20 . so where do we go from here ? 7 out of 20 is dividion corrrect ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it not division yet, it will be ... but for now its just a ratio

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok :) ; so where do we go from here >?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nowhere amistre gived u the answers

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

u mean gave..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im still assessing the question :) as I see it the probablity is multiplication. a vege AND a tree AND a flower AND and herb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea hes still going :) hes helping me learn also .

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but I also think this is a "given" probability question; which throws a wrench into the figureing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aww :/ u wanna just move on to another one :) its ok love we can do it another day . wanna justmove one ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:) we got any options to choose from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really :/ but ill see if theres one which would be alot more less complicated :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it right :DDDDDDDD I GET IT ! it was 1/560 :D

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we do a branching diagram we get 7*5*4*4; which = 560 total number of ways we can arrange baskets with 1 vege, 1tree, 1flower, and 1 herd

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol good job, I was just getting to that :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D yaya thanks soo much love :) you helped me :) so lets try another .

OpenStudy (amistre64):

go ahead and write up another question to the left and lets see what we can do to mangle it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in another thread or on this same one ?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

another one would be better.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

another thread would be helpful; gives more people a chance to see it and participate .... that and you can only get one medal per question ;)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, give one medal per question ... you can get as many as you want lol
