solve this system of equation. separate the x- and y- values with a comma. -4x+9y=42 -14x+6y=-6

Find x from the first equation x = -(42 - 9y)/4 the substitute it into the second equation and find the value for y. Then go back to the expression for x you got and substitute y. You will find x.

or multiply first equation by 2 second one by -3 to get \[-8x+18y=84\] \[42x-18y=18\] then add to get \[34x=102\] making \[x=\frac{102}{34}=3\] may be easier than dealing with all the fractions
