Do I multiply a number outside parentheses with just the numerical coefficient inside, or do I also multiply it by the variable exponent inside as well?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

can you provide an example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x^4)3

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if i see it right, you simply multiply it to each "term". the terms are set apart by + or - operators

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(2x^4) represents a single number. 3(2x^4) means: 2x^4 +2x^4 +2x^4 ------ 6x^4

k thanks...freaking out and making this too hard on myself..:P

OpenStudy (amistre64):
