(sqrt 3 + sqrt 5)^2

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

8 + 2root15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get that answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt3 squared is 3 and sqrt5 squared is 5, that's your 8. Then you have sqrt3Sqrt5 twice is 2 sqrt 15 (FOIL)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(sqrt(3) +sqrt(5))^2 = (sqrt(3) +sqrt(5))(sqrt(3) +sqrt(5)) = 3+sqrt(15)+sqrt(15)+5 = 2sqrt(15) + 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you get the 2 root 15?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

add these two, sqrt(15) & sqrt(15)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt3Sqrt5 is same as sqrt15 there are two them when you multiply out the brackets.
