Geophysical magnetism, ie the inner cores of planets creating strong magnetic fiels due to the dynamo effect. Also, I have a presonal afinity to that of Jupiter's because you get a really nice effect a higher pressures that actually amplifies the Mag Field, due to Liquid Metallic Hydrogen. Which in itself is REALLY COOL!!

amount of power put in to system through you moving it is more than electricity generated rendering the construct rather pointless

You can make what they call a "magnet and copper wire motor"
*Don't know if its an appropriate project. It depends but it's a good (simple) model to make for a class (BUT NOT FOR SCIENCE FAIR)
Its like a motor that spins. It uses a small magnet too.

*To make it, you need a magnet, copper wire and one AA battery
* The magnet is special - small, shaped like a cylinder
