how fast does the average open study question receive a "has a good answer" status, in turn how does that average correlate to the amount of members on at any certain time?
It all depends on the difficulty of the question, where you ask the question, how clearly you word the question, and the ability of the people online at the time. For example, in the math section, it usually takes 5 - 10 minutes for a problem using skills up to calculus. Anything calculus or higher will usually take 20 - 45 minutes. (Personal experience.)
Hmmm I suspect (combined with the effect described above) the easier the question, the more members online the faster it is answered. However if there are many members online and it is a hard question it will become buried under the easy ones and not get answered for a long time. Though that time is probably less if there are more members still.
We haven't done a full-on analysis like that. I believe we've determined that within 5 minutes over 60% of questions have been answered; I don't have the numbers in front of me right now. We haven't checked for the correlation to the number of people online at the time, however.
