Is there a quick way to find a number when given a denominator and a remainder?

OpenStudy (chaise):

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking: Is there a quick way to find a number when working with a mixed fraction? For example one and one third (1 and (1/3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, like if you were asked: What a number that when divided by 3 leaves a remainder of 1? A: 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All u can say is that the number is of the form k*divsor + remainder since u don't know k.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does k stand for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some number that u don't know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For that you just need to know the trick which helps you find out by which number is the given number divisible. like suppose you're given the no. 27 you would think of 3 and thats right you can also find it if you dont know, just add the two digits 2+7=9 since 9 is divisible by 3 so 27 is divisible by 3. in a similar way all the nos. except 7 has got a way to find divisibility

Hello Mridul Seth bhaiya.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah the math class that goes in depth into that question would be Number Theory or Modern Algebra.

I need some help in math
