Suppose you have a straight line that goes through the origin and makes a 30 degree angle with the positive x-axis. What would the equation of this line be? Explain how you could use one of the six trigonometric functions to help you write the equation of this line.

Think back to your intro algebra class...what is one of the most basic formulas for the slope of a line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i need to use trig functions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to write the equation of a line u need a point and a slope. Point = (0,0) slope is rise over run right so if u think of the line as the hypotenuse then the rise would b equal to the opposite and the run would be the adjacent. so u need opposite over adjacent or tan so slope=m=tan(30) y=tan(30)x
