how would i graph a transformation f(x) if the transformation is 2f(x)? like would i multiply the x or y coordinate by 2 or both?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's say f(x) = 3*x + 5. What would 2 * f(x) be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this transformation is a stretch x2 parallel to the y-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the original, we have to transform it by 2f(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thats what I did, multiplied the y-coordinate by 2. Thanks! :)

if you have a graphical calculator draw graph of x^2 and 2x^2 on same screen and you'll see the effect. manual drawing is of course another way
