why different types of cells, though performing different functions, have the same basic components.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All cells in ur body come from the same one cell- the zygote. THe zygote kept dividing until you get a big organism like us, but all those cells r basically copies of the first. THe reason they can perform different functions is because some of the dna is "switched on", and other parts are "switched off".

HTats why scientists think they can make stem cells out of your skin cells -it's all got the same ingrediants

remember cell is the structural and functional unit of all living organisms!so ,obviously,it has to have the same basic components

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Every cell in the body has to perform a few basic functions such as respiration, protein production and packaging, signal transduction etc. Since every cell must perform these functions each cell must have the same basic machinery. Over and above this it must have the organelles that help it to fulfill its specialised function
