I used to be a wafer fab tech at Advanced Micro Devices. They use a seed crystal and grow an ingot from it, slice it very thin and create microprocessors on it. Does anyone know where they get the (silicon, I think) seed crystals from?

There are various suppliers for that, but they're only for bulk sale.
