A pie dish with circular cross sections is 24 cm across the top, 16 cm across the bottom and 6 cm deep. Find the volume of the dish.

You could use the equation of the straight line passing through the points (0, 8) and (6, 12). Then evaluate: \[\pi\times\int_{0}^{6}(expression)^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[v=\left(\frac{1}{3}\right)(a+b)+h\sqrt{a b} \]for a= 24, b=16 and h= 6\[v=\frac{40}{3}+48 \sqrt{6}=130.9 \]

The pie dish is a Frustum of a Cone.
