Find the sum of the first 8 terms of the geometric series whose first term is 6 and whose second term is −3. would the ratio be -2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you have to multipy 6 to get -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6* -2 =-12 so -2 is not it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1/2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

255/64? 3.984?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 4.00781

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get 3.984375.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh i hate to tell u this because you taught me how to do it but you are prolly not starting at the first term and going up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the answer in a fraction in simplest form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

imranmeah91...i think you used n=8 in the formula. since the formula starts at n=0, the first 8 terms would be n=7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after a little work, it looks like it would be 255/64

OpenStudy (anonymous):
