Pick 5 of your favorite numbers. Say those numbers are 1, 11, 13, 15, and 17. Form a set N with these numbers to get N = {1, 11, 13, 15, 17} Now to form a subset, all you need to do is form a smaller set by choosing numbers from the set N. So say that your really favorite numbers are 1, 11, and 15. A subset S would then be S = {1, 11, 15}. This is a subset of N because EVERY element that is in S is also in N.
