you get two equations from this: 1.) x + (10 + 3y) = 180, where x is your angle and y is the complement 2.) x + y = 90 Solving, y = 90 - x (Plug into 1)--> x + (10 + 3(90 - x)) = x + 280 - 3x = 180--> -2x = -100--> x = 50 degrees
