Johannes Kepler used math to show that the planets move in perfect circles around the sun. True False

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Kepler actually showed that the planets move around the sun in ellipses, not circles. The common notion at the time was that the planets orbited in perfect circles. So the answer is false.

Hmmmm Alright :) Didnt really take notes on all the history and stuff..>:P

That's correct - the laws are: 1. The orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci. 2. A line joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. 3. The square of the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi-major axis of its orbit. very important, hon ^_^
