Elodea is a leafy flowering plant commonly found in aquariums. Its leaves are thin and transparent; most of them are only 2 cell layers thick. New leaves are produced at the tip of the plant. Elodea cell has a large central vacuole filled with water. Chloroplasts are easily seen in elodea. Moving fluids are seen because the cells are living. Elodea cells have cell walls built around cell walls, which serves as a double protection against damage or function interruption. As Elodea is a plant cell and contain chloroplast , they can make food that they have to consume.
