What is the slope of any line parallel to the line formed by the equation -45x + 9y = 36?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

y = 5x + 1

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

parallel lines means same slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me first rewrite the equation as 9y=45x+36. Now divide both sides by \(9\), you will get \(y=5x+4\). A parallel line has to have the same slope as this line. So, since the slope of this line is \(5\) (the coefficient of x), the slope of any parallel line to it is also \(5\).
