Solve using the elimination method. Show your work. If the system has no solution or an infinite number of solutions, state this. 3x+7y=77 -2x +7y=42

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me how to do this?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

i can do that with my calc.

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

First distribute a negative to the second equation meaning: -(-2x + 7y) = 42(-) then you get +2x - 7y = - 42 Cancel out the -7y and +7y from the equation above giving us 0 Then solve for x meaning add 3x and 2x = 5x Also substract 77 and 42 5x = 35 Then solve for x and plug in to the other equation to get y

x=7 y=8
