1000 times... millisecind = .001s, microsecond = .000001s

1 millisecond is 1000 microseconds.  This means that a milliseconds duration is 1000 times longer than a microsecond, and therefore 1 millisecond is 999 microseconds longer than 1 microsecond.

Hi Stan, I was taking the question literally, but your answer in my opinion is also relevant, since in colloquial terms asking how much longer is a millisecond than a microsecond could warrant the answer 1000 times longer.  

Regardless, you provided enough information anyway to answer the question in whatver manner it was meant.
