Factor g^2-11g-26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(g - 13)(g + 2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive noticed you've been asking a lot of factoring problems, is there something you're having trouble understanding?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g^2-13g+2g-26 g(g-13) + 2(g-13) (g+2) (g-13)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just dont understand the process . Methods.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, well for any factoring problem you have to first take out the GCF

OpenStudy (anonymous):

- Then what ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the foil problems you have to find the product-sum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example, in this problem you have to fin two numbers that add to -11 and multiply to -26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since the multiplication part is negative, there is one negative and one positive, and since the addition part is negative, the negative number is larger

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you can factor out the 26, what two number multiply to 26? 1,26 and 2,13
