I don't understand how the second line got cancelled...it's an inequality, I don't think I'm supposed to solve like that

As for as I know, there's only one solution..... x = -5/3

just set the numerator equal to zero and solve for x if the denominator is not zero at the same time then you have your answer

(3x+5)/((x-1)(x^4 +7))=0 first u must combine like terms in the bracket. then get the x on the right side to solve. is that a fraction or division?
