Read Obituaries, ask Family and friends, what would deceased have wished anyway? Learn to write these do Practice ones and make a dogs dinner of them (as we all do ) till you learn to feel comfortable in it. Perhaps it is a form of Biography without none of the status of 'Biographer'?

If you are writing an obituary of a loved one and/or family member, I suggest that after you complete a first draft to show it around to other family members for their additions, edits, and corrections. To get their input is important so that the obituary reflects a more comprehensive snapshot of the person as well as accurate references and key details.
